“Bandit Kings of Ancient China（水滸伝　天命の誓い）” is a war strategy game released by KOEI in 1989. This video game is based on Chinese popular novel “Water Margin” which was written by popular novel author Shi Nai’an（施耐庵） in the age of Ming Dynasty. This novel and the video game have some historical facts, and they focuses on Song Dynaty in China (The story time line is from A.D. 1100 to A.D. 1126). As the greatest features of this game, the player needs to beat Gao Qiu（高俅）, a wicked courtier in the imperial court before A.D. 1127 when Jurchen tribe in the north east China area invades the northern part of China. In addition, as well as Nobunaga’s ambition and Romance Of The Three Kingdoms, this title is a kind of war strategy game, however the players need to satisfy some conditions to obtain the imperial ordinance from Emperor Huizong for defeating Gao Qiu.
