PLAYSTATION is the video game console released by SONY COMPUTER ENTERTAINMENT in December 1994. Originally the conception of the next generation gaming console started as the joint development between NINTENDO and SONY in 1989. Due to the fact that NINTENDO withdrew from the project, the joint development failed. As as result, SONY needed to indepently develpo the video game console by itself. Fortunately NAMCO, a leading videogame developer joined the next genration gamimng machine project because the company also had been developing 3D gaming technology since the end of 80s and couldn’t utilize the technology to get the presence in the home video game industry. And NAMCO wanted to introduce the company’s arcade video game titles into the home gaming console which could run those titles, and the company found that PLAYSTATION had enough machine spec to satisfy the requirement of NAMCO’s titles.
